Postponement of the Alignment of Notice Periods and Dates for Blue-Collar and White-Collar Employees for Half a Year

Initially, starting January 1, 2021, the notice periods for blue-collar workers were supposed to be aligned with those of white-collar workers. The notice periods and notice dates of the “Austrian Salaried Employees Act” (“Angestelltengesetz”) should apply also to blue collar workers´ terminations.

This alignment of the notice periods and dates will now be postponed until July 1, 2021, thus the new notice periods and dates will apply to terminations after June 30, 2021.

As reason for the postponement the current Covid-19 situation was given.
